Contax G2/FUJI GF670 - Happy New Year/Hello 2011

Here's to the new year and seeing a lot more of her (my awesome/amazing wife) on this blog :).

PS, the second shot was a happy accident as the back popped open on my GF when I stepped out of the car and the camera bounced on the pavement :).

FUJI GF670 - Waiamea Bay

2010 has been one hell of an amazing year. I can honestly say it has been the best year of my life.

Here's to 2011, which as unfathomable as it may seem, is so going to kick 2010's butt.

Above shot is Callie walking towards the beach to read while I body surfed in 15ft waves. Indeed, life is good.

Happy New Year everyone, and thanks for reading!

FUJI GF670 - Pearl Harbor - KODAK Portra 400

Callie and I traveled to the North Shore of Oahu back in Nov for some well deserved R&R and to visit family and dear friends.

We visited the newly remodeled Pearl Harbor. I was a bit giddy to shoot any veterans there after being on a huge Band of Brother's kick.

Shot on my Girlfriend, the FUJI GF670, and on Kodak BW400CN /Kodak Potra 400 (readily available).

More posts from Hawaii coming in the cold, cold month of January :).

Contax G2 - My Old Office

I used to have my office in my home. There was a living room area that I had a wall built into with french doors to be my office in my home. Needless to say, I was bursting at the seams. So, back in Nov, I finally signed a lease on a studio in Orem. That's right, I have a bonified office space/studio/lab/store front. I have gutted it (complete remodel from top to bottom) and am still in the process of the finishing touches (deck/loft, kids play room, kitchen etc). I hope to have it completely finished by the end of Feb/beginning of March. Photos surely to follow.

The other great this is there will be a lot more studio work since I now will have a 15ft wide x 20ft tall white cove for shooting (extends out towards you 15ft as well). Quite the upgrade in space from 150 sq ft in my house to the new 1800+ sq ft :). And I work side by side with 2 cool cats almost daily (exhibit a and exhibit b).

2011 is going to be one amazing year for sure.

PS, if you were wondering, I took every photo on that wall except the Obama one which is a signed Martin Schoeller print. And to give you a sense of size, the shot of the little girl in the middle is printed 16x20 on 17x22 paper.

Ashlie & David's Engagements

As you read/look at this, I am in Dallas TX shooting their wedding. Where hopefully it is a good 40 degrees warmer than UT :).

You can view the whole event and order prints HERE.

And for you camera geeks out there, this is Kodak Portra 400 shot @ box speed with NO overexposing and if anything underexposing by a half stop. The bw images were shot on a Contax G2 on some generic color neg film from China.

Sarah & Tanner - 11.13.2010 - Salt Lake City/Mill Creek UT

This must be some kind of record. 3 wedding blog posts in less than a week!

Hands down, the grandmother who was crazy dancing is my favorite guest from all of my 2010 weddings. She even danced with me a couple times and winked at me too :). It was AWESOME to say the least.

Thanks Sarah & Tanner for having me out!

You can view the whole event online and order prints HERE.

And super geeky tech info, the color shots are all shot on Kodak Portra 400 (except for the color Holgas -square images- as that was shot on Kodak Portra 800). And some of the Kodak Portra 400 is pushed to 1600, now guess which ones :).
